My Hair Routine

My long awaited hair routine is finally up and I am so excited to share it with you! Before we start, I want to tell you guys about my hair type and everything that I have done to it! My hair is naturally dark brown and the first time I ever dyed my hair it was to begin the process of going blonde. So my hair has been bleached and gone through a lot. I also have semi-fine hair but I have a lot of it. Now, with that being said let's get into my routine! I am sharing everything I do to it in the shower and then everything I do when I get out of the shower and style it!

Shower Routine:

Another thing about my hair is that it gets oily very easily, thanks to my Italian roots. Because my hair gets oily basically 16 hours after I wash it I have to wash it every day. I have tried so many dry shampoos and different things that are similar but my hair has not taken to anything very well! My hair would still look as greasy as it did before I used the dry shampoo. So I just sucked it up and began to wash it every day.

So the first thing that I do to my hair in the shower is use a purple shampoo. If you're not familiar with purple shampoo and what it does, it is made for very light hair colors like blondes and greys and it helps to take the brassiness out of the color. I started using purple shampoo about a year ago even though I have been blonde for about three years now. The first one I used was the tried and true Shimmering Lights Purple Shampoo. I used this one for a while but I always hated the smell of it. So about 6-7 months ago I went back to Sally Beauty and picked up a different purple shampoo that I wound up falling in love with. I use the Ion Color Defense Shampoo. I absolutely love this shampoo and it smells amazing so its a win-win! I apply a generous amount of the shampoo and lather it in my hair for about two minutes. Since my hair is so light it can turn purple if I leave it on longer, so I am always super careful about that. So once I apply that to my hair and wash it through I go in with my shampoo next.

I haven't been using this particular shampoo lately, but I am about to repurchase it because it is my absolute favorite. If you're looking for volume in your hair the Fekkai Full Blown Volume Shampoo. Fun fact about this stuff last time I went to buy it it was $20 a bottle but now its down to $10 at Target so now as a good of a time as ever to try it out! When I first went blonde I used this shampoo for years solely because it was that good! It is worth the money even when it is $20 a bottle and it will last you months!

The next step in my shower routine is usually the part that I do at night! Having color treated hair means that I have a lot to do to take care of it. There is a deep conditioner that I use that keeps my hair healthy. The last time I colored my hair a lot of bleach sat on my hair because I wanted it a lot lighter. Well, that damaged my hair. After using this product every day for about two weeks my hair was back to it's normal silky feeling! The L'Oreal Paris Elvive Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm is absolutely amazing! I have used this product for years and have yet to find anything better. I have recently turned some of my friends onto this product and they are falling in love too! This is the one product that I use that even my hair dresser notices a difference in my hair when I am using it! It's under $10 and will last you a while! I really lather up with this stuff and while it's sitting in my hair I do everything else that I need to do while I am in the shower. I usually leave it on for about 5-10 minutes!

Styling Routine:

Before I begin styling my hair I usually throw it up into a Turbie Twist to pull some of the excess water out before I start blow drying it. If you haven't tried a turby twist or something similar yet run and go get one! Unlike a towel, it secures in the back so that it won't be constantly falling in your face while you're getting ready!

Before I start to dry my hair I use a couple of products to protect it from the heat. The first one I use is this Ion Leave-In Conditioner. I have been using this for about a year and it keeps my hair silky and shiny. I can definitely see the difference in my hair whenever I am not using this product. It is another item that is under $10 so I love it! I have used the same bottle every day for a year and I still haven't run out yet! The next thing I put in my hair is the best heat protectant I have ever come across. I tried a sample of this and wasn't really ready to throw $30 at it but I did. I have also had this same bottle for about a year now and I just got halfway through the bottle. This Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil has been a favorite of mine since I used it for the first time. BUT, a word of advice on this stuff, I only use 2-3 sprays because any more than that makes my hair super greasy! So just be careful with it! But, it is a fantastic product!

I do have a favorite hairdryer and never in a million years did I ever think I would say that until I tried THIS one from T3. I have used the same little Remington hairdryer for years and it came all through high school with me. That was until I discovered this one. Now, Y'all it is a splurge but it is so worth it. Since I have so much hair it takes me forever to dry it all. When I use the T3 hair dryer I can dry my hair in 4 minutes and be done. For me, that's miraculous!

I am linking my favorite curling iron from Hot Tools right HERE. I love this curling iron, I have had it for about two years and it has never failed me! I don't go anywhere without this curling iron!

I am linking the flat iron that I use right HERE for you guys as well!

I hope that this helped you guys a little bit if you are working to establish a hair routine yourself! Mix some products around and see what works for you! I'll see you guys next week!
Much love, Zoe Taylor
