Hello, gals! I have been getting questions about my hair lately, what I ask for, what I use, what I do, etc. I figured that instead of answering each of those questions individually I would make a big blog post for you guys explaining everything that I do and use and break it down for you guys! So let's hop right in!

What I ask for at the salon:
A common question I get is, "What do you ask your stylist for?" and Y'all I think she thinks I'm crazy because I'm always asking for different things. To break it down, I usually ask for a full highlight, most of the time. I would recommend asking your stylist if this would be okay for your hair, you don't want to fry your hair, this just works for me. I used to tone my roots, but I don't anymore because my hair is too light and it turns my roots an orange shade. This past time that I went to get my hair done I asked for a full highlight and a low light of darker blondes and ashy blondes.
The best advice on coloring that I can give to you is to find a stylist that you trust. You want your stylist to be honest with you, so if you say something crazy like you want to go blonde in one appointment they can tell you to slow your roll so that you don't fry your hair. I will tell you guys that it took me about 4-5 appointments over 3-4 months to go from a dark brunette to a full blonde. That's how long it takes, believe me. That's half of the reason that my hair remained healthy, so that is something to keep in mind if you're considering going blonde. Blonde is super fun, but you have to be careful going about it so that you can keep it pretty for a long time.
Hair cut wise, I don't have any special hair cut style, I just have an amazing stylist. All I ask for is a lot of layers to give me volume. I ask for them to not be too short because I curl my hair a lot and I want to be able to curl it. My bangs are just a swoop bang that I get trimmed up whenever I go. But, that's really all I ask for! Now, let's get into my favorite part, the products that I use.
Products I use:
This part is probably the most important part of this entire post. Your products and choice of are going to be what keeps your color haired fresh in between appointments! Let's start with my shampoo and conditioner. I'll first talk about the shampoo and conditioner I use right now, but I am also going to share some that I prefer a lot more than the ones that I am currently using. Right now I am using the Kenra Professional Luxe Shine Shampoo. I do like this shampoo however, it is not my fav. It works fine, but I don' think that it leaves my hair shiny like it says that it's supposed too. For conditioner I use two different things, if I am going to be styling my hair right after I wash my hair I use the Kenra Professional Platinum Revive Conditioner. I actually like this conditioner more than I like the shampoo but, like I said, neither one of these are my favorite. Do they work? Yes. Do they work fantastically? Not so much.
Something that does work fantastically that I use every night when I wash my hair is the L'Oreal Elvive Total Repair 5-Damage Erasing Balm. I have used this stuff for over four years and I am not kidding when I tell you guys that this is my holy grail. I started using it before I started going blonde and then used it even more after. You can use this in place of your conditioner, but if you're going to be styling your hair directly after you wash your hair, I would not use this one. I say that because it's going to leave your hair too soft and it probably isn't going to hold any style that you try to do. I will shampoo and rinse my hair and then lather my hair up with this balm. Don't leave it in too long otherwise, it will make your hair greasy. I will literally leave it in for maybe a minute. I know that sounds crazy, how can it do anything in that short of a time frame, believe me, it does. This balm is going to leave your hair crazy soft and shiny. This balm is perfect for damaged hair, it will repair your hair just like it says it does. I wouldn't have used it this long if it didn't actually work.
While we're still on the topic of talking about washing our hair I'm going to talk about my favorite shampoo and conditioner for a second because it's my favorite stuff in the world. I haven't been using this one for a second because I just wanted to try different things! But, the Joico K-Pak Shampoo and Conditioner. These were actually introduced to me by my best friend and y'all I have been in love ever since. There is something about this shampoo and conditioner that when I style my hair after I use them my hair does exactly what I want it to do, which is a miracle for my hair. This stuff always leaves my hair super soft and full of volume, so if that's what you're looking for go grab these because they're amazing! Also, the best time to buy these is when Ulta has their jumbo sale because their cheap and they last forever.
The last product that I use in my hair is an inexpensive but great product, that is the Eva NYC Mane Primer. What this product is a primer for your hair, so it gets your hair ready to be styled and ready to go. It reduces frizz, protects against heat, detangles, nourishes, cuts drying time, and adds shine. It also has Argan oil in it to leave your hair super soft. I LOVEEE this stuff and I am not one to usually believe all of the claims of a product. I can tell you that this stuff reduces frizz, works great as a heat protectant, and does leave my hair shiny along with cutting down my drying time. It's also super inexpensive. The way that I use this is that I'll shower and wash my hair and then I'll wrap it up in a towel while I do my makeup. When I take my hair out of the towel I spray about three sprays of Mane Magic in my hair and then brush it out and dry and style as normal. This stuff is seriously amazing and is often on sale for buy one get one half off, so make sure you check Ulta often!
In case you missed the links for all of the products that I talked about throughout the post (all of the pink words are links to that product) I will link everything right here for you guys!
